Ferniehill Surgery – permanent GP required 4 – 8 sessions per week

12 June @ 08:00 - 17:00

Ferniehill Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a 4-8 session GP to join our patient focused and friendly team from July/August 2026.

We are fortunate to have an excellent and committed team of clinicians at the practice, who are passionate about providing excellent primary care services to our patients, but who also value the benefits of a healthy work/life balance.  Coffee breaks are always taken together, giving everyone the opportunity to review and discuss their day. We promote a supportive environment for all of our GPs – not just those who are newly qualified.  In addition to our clinicians, our admin team are long serving, hardworking and as dedicated to providing an excellent service to the patients as our clinicians are.

Our appointment system is currently a mix of on the day and advance bookable appointments, and the majority of the appointments are 15 minutes in length. A routine session consists of 10 face to face/telephone appointment, a medication review phone call and a discuss results phone call. Most days will also include a home visit.

Our team consists of 8 GPs (4 Partners /4 Salaried GPs), a GP registrar (Currently GPST3),  2 practice nurses who provide an excellent chronic disease service, 2 mental health nurses, community pharmacists (plus pharmacy technician support), a physiotherapist, a practice manager, 2  phlebotomists and a 10 strong admin team.

We are a training practice and currently have a GP registrar working with us. Additionally we support fourth year medical students at the practice.  All of our doctors are actively involved in the delivery of teaching, and we would hope that our successful candidate would also support our efforts to help future doctors in their training.

Responsibilities such as duty doctor are shared amongst the GPs on a pro rata basis, and duty doctor is supported in the afternoon by another GP.

The role attracts 7 weeks leave and 8 public holidays (pro rata).

We are an EMIS practice (moving to Vision + in early 2027) and use Docman and Bluebay as support tools.

Stable list size, currently 7020, with mixed demographic
