Who can join LASGP?
Any doctor who is working, or intends to work, as a Sessional GP in the Lothian area is welcome to apply for Membership. You must, of course, be properly registered with the GMC, be on the GMC’s GP Register, and possess a valid JCPTGP/PMETB/CCT (or equivalent) certificate to work as a Sessional GP.
We welcome applications from GP Registrars.
GP Practices can join LASGP in order to advertise for Locums and other GP vacancies. The membership fee is £39 per year for unlimited job postings. Please find information for GP practices on this page.
How much will it cost to join as a Sessional GP Member?
Membership is gained through a £39, non-refundable annual subscription fee. Membership runs for one full year. Membership starts when payment has been made and the account has been activated.

Who are the members?
We are at various stages in our medical careers – some have only recently qualified as GPs, some are in mid-career, and others are nearing retirement.
We are a voluntary group of doctors who believe that Sessional GPs deserve better support, better educational opportunities and improved status and recognition by our medical colleagues.
We are NOT an employment agency: we neither fix rates of pay nor monitor the clinical skills of our members. Nor are we a regulatory body. But we remain convinced that without the unique contribution to the NHS that Sessional GPs make, Primary Care would struggle to cope….
Interested? Why not join us? Find out how you can join the rapidly-increasing number of doctors who choose this way of working in today’s changing NHS.
